I just finished reading ‘Eragon’ an amazing fantasy novel which is part of the Inheritance Trilogy.
The first book, ‘Eragon’ is currently being filmed and will be in theatres in December ’06.
To give you a better idea of what to expect, I think that the Inheritance Trilogy is as epic as Lord of the Rings with themes common to Harry Potter.

Is it really that good? Most movies never do justice to the books and it sort of hindered my anticipation to read any of it.
