Alwatanie
I’m looking at the profiles of “Alwatanie” group, the 4-woman group that are running for seats on the board of the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce. I am really excited about them running and winning seats. You could argue that of the many individuals running for seats, there are some individuals who might be more qualified, as businesspeople, to be board members. I do not know any of them well enough to judge, but I acknowledge the possibility. However, I would ague that business-insight and experience are not the only important factors determining the effectiveness of a board; other factors are just as important. Diversity is very important for any board, or else, we would just pick the best person among the board members and give them total control. Businesswomen would bring that to the boardroom.
