    rashid, you dumbass... instead of saying something like "good for her" or "finally a saudi woman is working in a field other than teaching or being a secretary"... you say the typical stupid saudi thing... "i know her... she used to have such short hair..."... dumbass... anyway... The moral of the story is this:
    a saudi woman could be anything she wants to be... in America... not saudi...
    regardless, good for her.
    it's kinda like that story of the guy from "down south" here in saudi that's currently managing some division in meril lynch or something. Aziz, if you don't have the story, i can send it to you. But the moral of that story is the same:
    Hard work and perseverance always gets you to high places... except in saudi...

    One more comment, but this I seriously like.

    مللنا من عبارة : ( أول سعودية سيدة أعمال - اول سعودية تقود سيارة - أول سعودية تحصل على الماجستر - أول سعودية رئيسة قسم ..... الخ ) لماذا هذا الاستهزاء بالشعب السعودي وكأن كل المجتمع النسائي السعودي مجتمع متخلف حبيس الدار وهذا الكلام هراء وافتراء على المرأة السعودية فهي اثبتت نفسها بجدارة في كل الميادين وهي التي صنعت مدرسة الرجال -مقيم عربي سوري في المملكة

    It may not apply to this specific story cuz it’s an impressive achievement by a male or female, but generally he's right. I feel highlighting every single accomplishment as a "women’s" great triumph is demeaning in a way and overkill. Plus Every time I hear things like this it reminds me of those stupid stories at the end of news broadcasts... you know:

    "and millions of Africans were killed...on a lighter note, visitors at the Baltimore Zoo were pleasantly surprised when an elephant suddenly started juggling monkeys with his feet while standing on his trunk… “a first” says local elephantologist Jack Blaisin”

    tariq,
    they usually say "the first saudi woman to do blah blah" in order for people to remember her name... and there's only a first.. not a second... why? because when you ask "why don't we have saudi female mechanical engineers?" or "why can't saudi women do whatever?" they answer "what are you talking about? don't you know what's her name that was the first female saudi whatever?... they're everywhere man!"
    if you don't believe this... ask the guys i have here at work with me "why don't we have a female saudi whatever?"... that's the answer they give you. they just want one of everything so that they can shut them up.
    just to make things clear, i am against saudi women... women in general... to be treated as equals, slightly lower than men, or even be treated as humans... they should not work. they should not learn. they should only stay home, make pies, and make babbies. they shouldn't even be allowed into hospitals... you should take them to the vet.
    .... kidding? maybe... but truth be told, that elephant deserves more respect than any woman. HE JUGGLED MONKIES FOR GODS SAKE!!!
