Sultan Intervenes in Asiri Girl's Case

I agree with Hamad’s comment (to my last entry), this article is really sad. And, yes, Hamad you’re right, I wouldn’t convert to Islam if I wasn’t born one!

I don't disagree with you and Hamad about how sad this is. But to go so far as to claim that you wouldn't embrace islam if you weren't born into it is a bit extreme. The media does have a profound impact on people's opinions, but I don't think that anyone serious about discovering a new religion would rely on the media as a guide. If that were the case, we can be sure that no one on Earth would be willing to convert to islam, especially nowadays. But take a look around you. I don't have numbers or any sort or real proof that Islam is growing, but as far as I know it still is the most rapidly growing religion on Earth. I don't think the actions of a few extremists and the image portrayed by the media is the reason why it is so.

jawad, i may agree with you that a person who is serious to discover a new religion will seek beyond the media; but, the media plays an important role in destroying (or may build) the image of religion especially Islam. Moreover, some of our dear fellows living with us in the country make decisions by the name of Islam (like the article we read) that further destroys the image of Islam. then why would a non-Muslim goes and search for the facts where what he knows and heard for years is that Islam is a false religion? Few people would search for facts, but allot will rely on media. So to really make Islam a growing religion (more than now), media would be of such importance.
