Based on figures in Guinness World Records, this robbery ranks as the world’s second-biggest, just behind an estimated £2.5 billion robbery of Reichsbank in Berlin in April 1945 and ahead of the February 2003 diamond robbery (£65 million) in Antwerp, Belgium.
